BISHOP WESLEY K. CHILDRESS SR.
Pastor & Founder of True Bread Worship Center
Bishop Wesley K. Childress Sr. is the son of Willard Childress and Phyllis Jones. He was born and raised in Danville, Virginia. His educational accomplishments include graduating from George Washington High School and attending Liberty University. This anointed man of God served our country in the U.S. Army as a Combat Medic, during the Gulf War. Bishop Childress is the loving and dedicated husband to Lady Saronda Clark Childress and a proud father of 6 children and grandfather of 4 and 3 God-children.
At an early age, Pastor Childress took his walk with the Lord to the next level and was baptized
in Jesus Name at Bible Way Church World Wide, under the leadership of the late Apostle L.G. Campbell Sr. on May 31, 1981. On January 1, 2006, Pastor Childress, along with his family became members of Bethel United Way of the Cross Church, under the leadership of Bishop John A. Campbell, Jr.
Under the leadership of Bishop John A. Campbell Jr., he heard the call from God and accepted the call into ministry, and preached his initial sermon on Nov. 8, 2009. He is no stranger to being a humble servant of the Lord and to public service. He served faithfully as the Youth for Christ President, the Youth Sunday School teacher, and Vacation Bible School teacher. He was later ordained as Elder on June 21, 2013, during the Annual Holy Convocation of the United Way of the Cross Churches of Christ. Soon after he was appointed the National Recording Secretary for the United Way of the Cross Churches of Christ Inc.
He also served as the General Secretary for the United In Christ Kingdom Fellowship. Also,
within the U.I.C.F.K. Fellowship, he developed an entry-level training class for new ministers
and evangelists under the title of the UICKF Ministerial Ministry. Presently he serves as the
Assistant General Secretary and the Diocesan Bishop of the state of Virginia, with the U.C.C.I. organization under the
leadership of Apostle James. H. Carter. Bishop Childress has also served as Assisting
Pastor for 10 months at Mt. Sinai Holiness Church, Axton Va., during the illness of Pastor Bruce Simmons in 2017. After that assignment was completed, he served as interim Pastor at Restoration House of Grace, Chatham Va., for 18 months.
In 2012, God placed the name “True Bread” in his heart, and a few years later he became
Visionary of True Bread Outreach Ministries. Since he did not have a building, he started his
ministry through radio on Wednesdays at 33 p.m.on WYNC 1480. Then the Lord opened doors for him at WDVA 1250 a.m. and www.wdva1250.com where he could be heard every Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., in which many souls were reached over the airways. After many years of prayer, True Bread Worship Center was birthed to its new home in Martinsville, Virginia with the moto, “This is where the rejected, neglected, hurt, used, abused, thrown away, disregarded souls come and find refuge”. The first service was held on June 23, 2019.
Pastor Childress was installed as Pastor of True Bread Worship Center on September 7, 2019.
Since his pastorate, souls have continued to be touched by his teachings, preaching, and words of encouragement. Pastor Childress has a great passion for getting souls saved, young and old. One of his passionate quotes is, “Same Message, Different Method…It’s just JESUS!”
“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against
thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.” (Isaiah 54:17)
