Church History

True Bread Worship Center Inc.

The True Bread Vision was birthed in November 2012, under the unction
of the Holy Spirit, with the motto,” Same Message, Different Method”. God placed
in Elder Wesley Childress heart to go out and spread the word throughout the
community. While he was serving as an Associate Minister at Bethel United Way
of the Cross Church, under the leadership of Bishop John A. Campbell, Jr, he
realized he must start the process. Elder Childress stepped out on faith and started
True Bread Outreach Ministry in 2014. In 2015, He could be heard on WYNC
1540, WDVA 1250 and WKBY 1080. The audience grew each week from the
broadcast. Although that was a start, Elder Childress decided to take True Bread to
television, he could be watched on the STAR News station every Sunday night at
6:30. Also, during this time he frequently visited various nursing homes, Churches,
and prisons, spreading the gospel to those in need or could not attend church.

After a while, Elder Childress started assisting other ministries that were in need.
He started with Apostolic Sanctuary in 2015, under the leadership of Bishop
Chauncey Stone and 2016 with Mt. Sinai Holiness Church, where Elder Bruce
Simmons is Pastor. During this time, he was able to gain more knowledge and
understanding for ministry. On December 10, 2017, Elder Childress accepted the
role as Interim Pastor for Restoration House of Grace Apostolic Church in
Chatham, VA, where Bishop John Coles was the Overseer. Elder Childress,
preached the word, taught the word and worked diligently to get souls saved and
delivered. After two years serving as Interim Pastor, Elder Childress heard the
voice of God again, this time to start True Bread Worship Center.

In May of 2019, the Lord brought Elder Childress and Bishop Stone together
again. Bishop Stone had always professed that The Lord showed him Elder
Childress as the next Pastor here. This time, it wasn’t as Apostolic Sanctuary, but
as True Bread Worship Center. On June 5, 2019, Elder Childress along with his
wife Lady Saronda became founder and co-founder of T.B.W.C. Bishop Stone and
his wife has played a tremendous part in the start and growth of True Bread
Worship Center and will always be a part of our history.
The first service took place on June 23, 2019. Elder Childress preached a fiery
sermon titled “Look at What the Lord has Done” Deuteronomy 8:1-6. After the
first service, the following members joined True Bread: Deacon Glenn Hubbard,
Evangelist Sherdenia Hubbard, Missionary Lynette Pritchett, Cynthia Barley,
Jeanette Price, Angela Richardson, Zymrah Lindsey, Melvin Hodnett, Amaya
Childress and Wesley Childress ll.

On July 28, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. T.B.W.C had it’s launching service. This was an
exciting time for the True Bread family. Bishop Victor Hairston, the Presiding
Bishop of U.I.C.K.F. (United in Christ Kingdom Fellowship) assisted with the
dedication of the church and He preached the dedication sermon as well.

On September 7, 2019, Elder Wesley Childress, was installed as Pastor of True
Bread Worship Center. This memorable occasion was held at United in Christ
Ministries, Eden NC., where the Late Bishop Chris Carter was pastor. Elder Jeff
Hairston, pastor of Tabernacle of Praise Church, Rocky Mount Va., and his
congregation blessed us with the installation sermon. On September 8, 2019,
Bishop Chauncey Stone presented Pastor Childress with the bible.

The second-year presented diverse challenges as COVID-19 shut the nation down.
Still, it did not stop God from moving mightily on T.B.W.C. Pastor Childress
continued delivering the word of God through social media and outdoor service.
God continues to bless T.B.W.C. in its second year as we grew truly.

True Bread Worship Center joined the United Cornerstone Churches, International,
led by Chief Apostle H. James Carter. The chartering service was held on October
25, 2021.

Through our growth, the T.B.C.W. choir made its debut.

As things progressed, souls were added to the church, and Pastor Childress taught
the second New Members Class with four members successfully graduating.
True Bread Worship Center is built on love and outreach for all people. We, as the
True Bread family, are looking forward to the upcoming years as G.O.D. sees fit to
bless T.B.W.C.!
